Read more about Positive Coaching Scotland
Based on a highly successful US model, which was developed at Stanford University in 1998 to combat escalating health and social problems, PCS is a community based coaching programme, which aims to increase youth sports participation.
It creates a positive environment for young people to participate in sport, reducing the number who get ‘turned off’ and drop out. The initiative re-defines winning to shift from the ‘win at all costs’ mentality which currently exists, to a culture which focuses on increased and sustained effort.
The focus is on teaching life lessons through sport. By including the whole community-parents, coaches, teachers and local sports leaders and tailoring the message to each audience, PCS provides the tools and framework for a positive sporting and character building experience.
Ultimately the aim of the Foundation is to see this programme rolled out across Scotland because we firmly believe it will create positive cultural change.
