Work Out For Sport

The unsung heroes of Scottish sport are the volunteers setting up clubs, increasing participation and promoting sport in communities - going that extra mile to make a difference to the lives of young people through sport.

Work Out For Sport is a unique programme - supported by sportscotland - which matches the skills of volunteers from the business community with sports clubs and organisations to help create stronger more sustainable clubs.

The Winning Scotland Foundation believes that through this innovative programme youth retention rates in sports can improve and the nation as a whole will benefit from:

Improved health and well-being

Reduced anti-social behaviour and crime

Increased integration and a more supportive society

Launched in 2010, the pilot quickly struck a chord with organisations committed to corporate social responsibility and staff development. Deloitte is our founding corporate partner - with over 25 employees volunteering at clubs in the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen areas.

Organisations support employees to provide their time and expertise in areas such as business & financial planning, corporate strategy, marketing or coaching to help clubs develop and succeed.  Employers support their employees for 3.5 hours per month of work time – on the understanding that employees also commit personal time.

We hope to grow the volunteer network and roll the programme out nationally.  To achieve a national roll out we are seeking new corporate partners to participate in Work Out For Sport.
